Bruce Garrioch: The Senators sent defensemen Thomas Chabot and Ben Harpur to the AHL. Sending two defensemen down could mean that Erik Karlsson is close to returning. The Senators waive Max McCormick.

Bob McKenzie: The Red Wings have released P.A. Parenteau from his PTO.

Helene St. James: The Red Wings will speak with David Booth (PTO) today.

Ansar Khan: The Red Wings have assigned Michael Rasmussen to Tri-City of the WHL.

On the New Jersey Devils …

Bob McKenzie: The Devils have signed Jimmy Hayes to a one-year, $700,000 contract. Hayes was in camp on a PTO.

Chris Johnston: The Panthers have released Brandon Pirri and Harry Zolnierczyk from their PTOs. 2017 first round pick Owen Tippett has made the team to start the season.

On the Edmonton Oilers …

Bob Stauffer: The Oilers sent Jesse Puljujarvi to the AHL. They would need to sign Chris Kelly, who is in camp on a PTO, by Tuesday afternoon or release him. Mark Fayne was put on waivers.

John Hoven: The LA Kings have released Brooks Laich from his PTO.

Jon Rosen: Defenseman Paul LaDue could start the season in the AHL.

Eric Stephens: Nick Ritchie returned to practice after being ill. Ryan Getzlaf (lower-body) and Ryan Miller (upper-body) are still out.
