On NHL games overseas …

Darren Dreger: The NHL and NHLPA have talked about playing games in Europe and Asia next year, possibly six teams. Among the countries discussed are China, Finland, Sweden, Germany, and Switzerland.

Jim Matheson: Have heard that the Edmonton Oilers could end up playing in China because of McDavid.

Jason Gregor: The Oilers playing in Germany has been discussed. Leon Draisaitl is from Germany and Connor McDavid would be a big draw.

David Pagnotta: Bill Daly said when they were in Sweden, that the games played in China will be exhibition games. Hinted that games played in Europe could be regular season games.

David Pagnotta: Daly had suggested that games played in China in 2019-20 could be regular season.

Rob Mixer of 1st Ohio Battery: Defenseman Zach Werenski missed last night’s game with a “body” injury according to coach John Tortorella. He is listed as day-to-day.

On the Montreal Canadiens …

Darren Dreger: Defenseman Shea Weber is on his way back to Montreal to be re-evaluated. There is no timetable yet.

On the New York Islanders …

Shannon Hogan: The Islanders recalled forward Shane Prince from his conditioning stint.

On the New Jersey Devils …

Chris Ryan: Marcus Johansson was back at practice yesterday. Jesper Bratt was given a maintenance day after blocking a shot on Monday.

Chris Ryan of NJ.com: Johansson could return to the lineup tonight against the Rangers.

“Marcus looks pretty good. We pushed him here the last few days, held him out of the Anaheim game and gave him some good skates,” Devils coach John Hynes said. “Really worked him (Tuesday) in a lot of battle drills. Today he looked his best, was skating well. We’ll talk to him again tomorrow and see where he’s at.”
