Western Conference News: Coyotes, Flames, Stars, Predators, Blues, Canucks and Jets
Winnipeg Jets forward Mark Scheifele suffered an upper-body injury last night.
On the Arizona Coyotes …

Craig Morgan: Have been told that Antti Raanta‘s injury is not serious.

On the Calgary Flames …

Pat Steinberg: Goaltender Mike Smith practiced with the team for the first time since suffering his lower-body injury. He hadn’t been scheduled to join the team while they were on their road trip.

John Shannon: Smith won’t play tonight against the Sabres, but don’t rule him out for Friday’s game against the Senators.

Calgary Flames: Smith after practice: “It’s day-by-day. I’m trying to improve every day, strengthen, get comfortable and when I’m ready, I’ll know. I think that’s the main thing. I’ll know when I’m ready to go.”

Wes Gilbertson: Smith after practice: “Any time you practice with the team after being away this long, I think it’s encouraging. We’ll see how I react after today, but I think everything I did out there today was good signs and a step in the right direction. So I think it’s a positive thing.”

On the Dallas Stars …

Mark Stepneski: The Stars recalled Roope Hintz and Mike McKenna.

On the Nashville Predators …

Adam Vingan: Defenseman Roman Josi and his upper-body injury didn’t skate yesterday. Craig Smith was on the ice yesterday. He had missed the past two games for maintenance.

On the St. Louis Blues …

Lou Korac: Defenseman Joel Edmundson is unlikely for Thursday but isn’t ruled out for their road trip. He still needs to take contact at practice first.

On the Vancouver Canucks …

Rick Dhaliwal: A source on Brock Boeser‘s injury: “Not career-threatening and not a serious injury but can’t see him playing again this season. Best to shut him down, there will be a few weeks of discomfort.”

Rick Dhaliwal: The Canucks recalled Reid Boucher. Defenseman Chris Tanev has been skating by himself the past few days and is about seven to ten days away from returning to the lineup. Brendan Gaunce should be back on the ice in the next couple days.

On the Winnipeg Jets …

Ken Wiebe: Forward Mark Scheifele left last night’s game with an upper-body injury.

Ken Wiebe: Coach Paul Maurice didn’t have much of an update on Scheifele after the game. Scheifele will be checked out today. The injury is not related to the injury he suffered earlier this season.

Mike McIntyre: Defenseman Toby Enstrom wasn’t able to go last night – he’s close. Jacob Trouba, Adam Lowry, and Shawn Matthias also not ready yet.
