The Devils re-signed forward Joseph Blandisi to a two-year, two-way deal for $1.36 million. He’ll get $660,000 this season and $700,000 in 2018-19.
On KHL suspensions …
Igor Eronko: The KHL suspended Danis Zaripov, Derek Smith and Andrei Konev for violating the leagues anti-doping rules.
Igor Eronko: Zaripov received a two-year suspension, Smith received 18 months and Konev six months.
Aivis Kalnins: Have been told that Zaripov’s suspension will be appealed.
Slava Malamud: The drug that Zaripov was caught using was pseudoephedrine, the same substance that Nicklas Backstrom was caught for in the Sochi Olympics. “However, paired w/ a diuretic, suggests intended use not innocent.”
Aivis Kalnins: Zaripov’s contract was at around $2 million a season and is now inactive following his suspension.
Gabrielle T-F: If Zaripov’s KHL contract becomes terminated, Bill Daly said that his NHL eligibility “would have to be evaluated.”
