Western Conference News: Flames, Blackhawks, Blues, and Jets
The Chicago Blackhawks put Cody Franson on waivers.
On the Calgary Flames …

Wes Gilbertson: The Flames traveled to Minnesota yesterday, but Jaromir Jagr didn’t travel with him. A Flames – Jagr exit is in the works, but the team isn’t saying much. Jagr is officially listed as being day-to-day with an injury.

On Cody Franson

James Mirtle: The Chicago Blackhawks put defenseman Cody Franson on waivers.

Eric Engels: At $1 million for just this year, if the Ottawa Senators don’t put a claim in on Franson, the Montreal Canadiens might. Victor Mete will be rejoining the team, but Shea Weber will be down for a while longer.

Dennis Bernstein: The Kings were interested in Franson at the trade deadline two years ago, but he is a bottom pairing guy, and the Kings have enough of those. Can’t see Franson being a second pairing guy for the Kings and that is what they need.

James Mirtle: Franson isn’t a ‘world beater’ but if you’re giving right-handed minutes to Martin Marincin and Roman Polak

Michael Augello: The Maple Leafs need help on the blue line, but not another third pairing guy. They need a top-four guy if they want to make a playoff run.

On the St. Louis Blues …

Lou Korac: Blues forward Zach Sanford said he’s still has a ways to go. Needs to work on strength and conditioning before getting into contact drills. He is taking things day-by-day and week-by-week.

Lou Korac: Forward Jaden Schwartz isn’t using a walking boot anymore. Coach Mike Yeo said Schwartz is on target.

The Blues activated defenseman Vince Dunn and reassigned Lucas Walman to the AHL.

Lou Korac: Yeo on Schwartz: “The last thing I heard is that everything’s on pace right now, everything’s on schedule.”

Lou Korac: Even though the Blues activated Dunn from the IR, he won’t play before their bye week.

On the Winnipeg Jets …

Sara Orlesky: With Adam Lowry‘s status unknown, the Jets recalled forward Brendan Lemieux and reassigned Tucker Poolman.
