Wes Gilbertson: Winger Kris Versteeg (hip surgery) was skate early at the Saddledome. He was stickhanding, shooting, and moving around pretty well.

Roger Millions: Versteeg will still need to get clearance from his surgeon to ramp up his workouts and to rejoin the team.

On the Colorado Avalanche …

Mike Chambers: Defensemen Anton Lindholm (upper-body) and Erik Johnson (upper-body) left last night’s game early.

Adrian Dater: AJ Haefele reported the Johnson had his left arm wrapped up after the game.

On the Columbus Blue Jackets …

CBJ PR: Forward Nick Foligno left last night’s game with a lower-body injury.

CBJ PR: Defenseman Dean Kukan left last night’s game with an upper-body injury.

Mark Stepneski: Martin Hanzal missed last night’s game with “general soreness” but is hopeful to play on Wednesday.

Helene St. James: Defenseman Mike Green suffered an upper-body injury late in Thursday’s game. He missed their weekend games, but coach Jeff Blashill doesn’t think it’s a long-term issue.

Ansar Khan: GM Ken Holland said that Green is expected to play this week, possibly on Tuesday.

NHL Player Safety: The NHL suspended Devils Miles Wood for two games for boarding Lightning’s Vladislav Namestnikov.

Cap Friendly: Wood will forfeit $9,946.24 in salary for this two-game suspension.

Paul Gackle of The Mercury News: Defenseman Brent Burns left last night’s game in the third period with an undisclosed injury.

“He’ll be fine,” defenseman Justin Braun said. “He’s just dealing with something, but he’ll be fine. He’s that way. He won’t miss a game.”

Kevin Kurz: The Sharks have recalled forward Danny O’Regan from the AHL.

On the Toronto Maple Leafs …

Mark Masters: Leafs forward Zach Hyman said that he passed concussion protocol Saturday night before he returned to the game.

“I’m OK, just a little cut behind the ear, but fine … I knew where I was. I tried to get my hands up. I think I covered (my head) a little bit. I was going fast, high impact, I’m just happy to be OK.”
