Boston Bruins: Bruins GM Don Sweeney on David Backes: “He did meet with our doctors & they re-evaluated the cut. It was a pretty significant cut…we’ll let nature take its course & let it heal. I don’t have a definitive timetable. Certainly not day-to-day. I would suspect he’ll be out for a couple games.”

Boston Bruins: GM Sweeney said there is no timetable for Jake DeBrusk and his upper-body injury: “Jake’s continuing to move along and recover.”

Boston Bruins: GM Sweeney on Patrice Bergeron‘s fractured right foot: “We don’t have a definitive timetable. Our doctors have set a hopeful time frame, but that’s the healing process. He may join us on the trip here, but we’re gonna wait tomorrow and see where he’s at.”

Joe Haggerty: The Bruins have signed Ryan Donato to a two-year entry-level deal. He’ll join the team today and is eligible to play tonight.

Mark Divver: Donato will continue as a student at Harvard. He’s expected to play for the Bruins tonight. His contract will be up after next season.

Brian Hedger: Defenseman Seth Jones traveled with the team to Boston. He’s day-to-day with an upper-body injury.

Mike Heika: Dallas Stars PR said that goaltender Ben Bishop left last night’s game with a lower-body injury. He had missed five games earlier with a knee injury and returned in their last game against the Senators. This injury could be related to it.

On the Edmonton Oilers …

Jason Gregor: Defenseman Oscar Klefbom is scheduled to shoulder surgery on Thursday. They won’t know the extent of the damage until the doctor goes in.

Ken Wiebe: Defenseman Jacob Trouba had trouble getting to his feet after a collision with Jamie Benn. He went straight to the room.

Ken Wiebe: Coach Paul Maurice said there was head-to-head contact between Trouba and Benn. Trouba hasn’t been diagnosed with a concussion yet and they should know more this morning.
