Matthew DeFranks of the Sun-Sentinel: Forward Derek MacKenzie returned to practice yesterday. He’s missed the past five games with a lower-body injury. MacKenzie has been cleared for contact and could play today.

Forward Radim Vrbata took a puck to the face last weekend and wasn’t at practice yesterday. He could return next week against New Jersey or New York.

Defenseman Mark Pysyk has a lower-body injury and is questionable for today.

Elliotte Friedman: The LA Kings put forward Brooks Laich on waivers.

Curtis Zupka: “Writing has been on the wall for Brooks Laich. I don’t know if he’s open to the AHL but that would obviously be the option if he isn’t claimed.”
