NHL Injury Updates

Chip Alexander: Carolina Hurricanes forward Jordan Martinook practiced in a no-contact jersey.

Chris Boden: Chicago Blackhawks defenseman Connor Murphy was on the ice for practice yesterday.

Chris Boden: Murphy is traveling with the team but he is not eligible to come off the IR until their game on Saturday against the Predators.

Adian Dater: Colorado Avalanche forward Pierre-Edouard Bellemare was on the ice in a no-contact jersey.

Columbus Blue Jackets: Defenseman Ryan Murray was activated off the IR.

Sean Shapiro: Dallas Stars forward Mattias Janmark is doubtful for tonight. Defenseman Roman Polak could return tonight be their next game is more likely.

Josh Getzoff: Pittsburgh Penguins defenseman Kris Letang isn’t traveling with the team. The Penguins wouldn’t comment on Sidney Crosby‘s status beyond last night’s game.

Rob Rossi: Crosby delayed having sports hernia surgery in training camp because of all the injuries the team was dealing with. He is now considering is the issue is still bothering him.

Jeremy Rutherford: St. Louis Blues Vladimir Tarasenko: “It’s two weeks past already, most of the frustration is gone. If I put my mindset on rehab and spend all my power there, not remembering what’s happened, it’s going to help me come back faster and stronger. Follow the plan with the doctors and hopefully heal faster.”

  • Lou Korac: Tarasenko on having a couple of shoulder injuries: “No, it’s different injuries. I can tell you it’s different injuries. It’s hockey game. If you don’t want to get injuries, don’t play this sport. Sometimes it happens. There’s no point to think about it.”

Terry Koshan: Toronto Maple Leafs forward Zach Hyman has been cleared to return to the lineup tonight.

Jonas Siegel: Maple Leafs forward Mitch Marner, who had a walking boot on his right foot, said that he feels lucky the injury was only a high ankle sprain and not worse: “When I fell, I felt a snap in my ankle. I think that’s why I was expecting when I looked back for my ankle to be facing the wrong direction.”

Jesse Granger: Vegas Golden Knights forward Alex Tuch and Peyton Krebs were on the ice yesterday.

Tarik El-Bashir: Washington Capitals forward Carl Hagelin didn’t travel with the team and is still listed as day-to-day. Coach Todd Reider said he hasn’t skated yet.
