Michael Smith: Carolina Hurricanes forward Martin Necas is out with a lower-body injury.

Ryan S. Clark: Colorado Avalanche coach Jared Bednar said that Matt Calvert and Gabriel Landeskog are possibilities to go on their next road trip.

Ryan S. Clark: Bednar said they held out Mikko Rantanen for the third period last night for precautionary reasons. He’ll be ready for their next game.

Tom Gazzola: Edmonton Oilers forward Alex Chiasson was good to go last night after taking a hard hit on Wednesday night.

Josh Yohe: Pittsburgh Penguins forward Bryan Rust is out with the lower-body injury.

Pittsburgh Penguins: Coach Mike Sullivan on Rust’s injury: “His status is day-to-day. We sent him back to Pittsburgh to be evaluated. We will have more specific information when we get back.”

Jim Thomas of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch: The St. Louis Blues got some better than expected news on Oskar Sundqvist‘s foot injury.

“It’s better than we thought,” coach Craig Berube said before the Blues’ game at home against Pittsburgh on Saturday night. “It’s not going to be long-term, it looks like. It should be a lot better than we thought.”

When asked if Sundqvist is week-to-week.

“That’s a pretty good term,” Berube said.

Tampa Bay Lightning: Lightning forward Alex Killorn is day-to-day with a lower-body injury.

Defenseman Braydon Coburn is out indefinitely with a lower-body injury.

Brendan Batchelor: Vancouver Canucks defenseman Alex Edler left last night’s game early and is doubtful for tonight according to coach Travis Green. He will be re-evaluated today.

Samantha Pell: Washington Capitals forward Nicklas Backstrom missed last night’s game. He is making progress and was on the ice yesterday morning. Backstrom will need to go through a full-contact practice before they decide if he’ll play on Tuesday. He hasn’t been cleared for contact yet.
