NHL Injury Updates

Steve Conroy: Boston Bruins coach Bruce Cassidy said that Patrice Bergeron was given a maintenance day yesterday but is expected to skate today.

Pat Steinberg: The Calgary Flames sent forward Austin Czarnik to Stockton (AHL) on a conditioning stint. He’s been out with a lower-body injury since October 24th.

Mike Maniscalco: Carolina Hurricanes forward Andrei Svechnikov didn’t practice yesterday. Coach Rod Brind’Amour said that Svechnikov was a little banged up.

Daniel Nugent-Bowman: Edmonton Oilers coach Dave Tippett said that Ryan Nugent-Hopkins has been stickhandling the past two days but missed his fifth consecutive game last night. “It’s one of those things where it’s gonna take some time … Hopefully he’s not too far away.”

Sarah McLellan: Minnesota Wild coach Bruce Boudreau said that defenseman Greg Pateryn is expected to play today in Iowa (AHL). He could meet up with the team in Carolina or rejoin the team on Monday at home for practice.

Sarah McLellan of the Star-Tribune: The Wild have placed defenseman Jared Spurgeon on the IR. He is expected to be out for two weeks with an upper-body injury. Spurgeon blocked a shot with his right hand on Tuesday.

Forward Mikko Koivu also left Tuesday’s game. He’s day-to-day with a lower-body, but is expected to take part in their morning skate today.

Adam Kimelman of NHL.com: The Philadelphia Flyers put forward Michael Raffl on the LTIR with a broken right pinky finger.

Pittsburgh Penguins: Defenseman Jack Johnson missed last night’s game due to an illness.

Leafs PR: Toronto Maple Leafs forward Andreas Johnsson left last night’s game early with leg injury.

Michael Augello: Leafs coach Sheldon Keefe said that Johnsson was sore after blocking a shot. Keefe doesn’t think that it is serious. The Leafs are off until Saturday.

Ken Wiebe: Winnipeg Jets defenseman Nathan Beaulieu is now listed as day-to-day. The earliest that Mason Appleton could return to the lineup is Sunday. Gabriel Bourque remains out and won’t play tonight.
