Amalie Benjamin: Defenseman Torey Krug and Brandon Carlo weren’t at practice yesterday.

Amalie Benjamin: GM Don Sweeney said that it’s unlikely that defenseman Torey Krug will be able to go for the start their series. Defenseman Brandon Carlo is definitely out for Game 1.

Joe McDonald: Sweeney said that Krug is unlikely to be available for the first round.

Kevin Paul Dupont: Sweeney said the goaltender Anton Khudobin was sick on Saturday and underwent tests yesterday. He wasn’t at practice yesterday.

On the Ottawa Senators …

Bruce Garrioch of the Ottawa Sun: Defenseman Erik Karlsson on weekend on if he’ll be 100 percent for the start of the playoffs.

“We’ll see,” Karlsson added. “I probably could have played this weekend if I had to but the guys did a great job in Boston to squeak one out there and today I thought we controlled the whole game. There wasn’t really much need for me. The smart decision and the good decision was probably rest.”

On the Columbus Blue Jackets and Pittsburgh Penguins …

Aaron Portzline of the Columbus Dispatch: The Blue Jackets series against the Penguins gets underway on Wednesday and defenseman Zach Werenski is expected to return to the lineup. Werenski has been out since April 2nd with a shoulder injury.

The Penguins expect center Evgeni Malkin to return to the lineup. Malkin has been out since March 15th with a shoulder injury.

Defenseman Kris Letang is done for the year with a herniated disc.

Forwards Carl Hagelin (lower-body) and Chris Kunitz (lower-body) are expected to miss at least the start of round one.

Defenseman Olli Maatta and Trevor Daley recently returned to the Penguins lineup.
