Optimistic on Faulk and de Haan

Michael Smith: Carolina Hurricanes coach Rod Brind’Amour said “optimistic” about defensemen Justin Faulk and Calvin de Haan being ready for tonight.

Cogliano hopeful for Tuesday

Sean Shapiro: Dallas Stars Jamie Benn wasn’t able to go last night. Andrew Cogliano had went back to Dallas for further treatment and is hopeful for Tuesday.

Red Wings injury updates

Ansar Khan: Detroit Red Wings Dylan Larkin is questionable for Saturday. Mike Green is probable with an illness. Thomas Vanek (hip flexor) is hopeful for Tuesday and Trevor Daley is day-to-day with a back issue.

Puljujarvi done for the year

Jason Gregor: Edmonton Oilers forward Jesse Puljujarvi will have hip surgery next week and is done for the season.

Jim Matheson: Puljujarvi’s hip is a body structure issue and not an injury.

Reimer unlikely for the weekend

Jameson Olive: Florida Panthers goaltender James Reimer unlikely to play this weekend.

No Mueller update yet and knee surgery for Hall

Mike Morreale: New Jersey Devils defenseman Mirco Mueller was released from the hospital yesterday and more should be known today.

John Shannon: Devils forward Taylor Hall had arthroscopic surgery on his left knee. His status for the rest of the year isn’t known.

Mike Morreale of NHL.com: Hall’s knee surgery was earlier this week with rehab beginning immediately. They’ll have a better understanding of his timeline over the next few weeks.

“If he could come back and play at some point but only safely and with no long-term impact, that’ll be fantastic, but we have to make sure he’s confident and our medical staff is comfortable,” Devils general manager Ray Shero said Monday after the 2019 NHL Trade Deadline.

Karlsson out a week

Kevin Kurz:  San Jose Sharks coach Pete DeBoer said that Erik Karlsson will be out for at least a week. They believe that it’s still a groin issue but they are waiting for the test results to get back.

Paul Gackle: Coach Pete DeBoer said that Evander Kane was given a maintenance day yesterday and was feeling no lingering effects from the Zdeno Chara hit.

Edler activated

Jeff Paterson: The Vancouver Canucks activated defenseman Alex Edler from the IR.
