Lance Lysowski: Buffalo Sabres forward Casey Mittelstadt and defenseman Zach Bogosian were on the ice for practice yesterday.

Paul Hamilton: Sabres coach Phil Housley said they aren’t ruling out either Mittelstadt or Bogosian for tonight.

Staal skates

Michael Smith: Carolina Hurricanes forward Jordan Staal was on the ice yesterday in a no-contact jersey.

Sara Civ: It was Staal’s first practice since December 22nd. There is no timetable for his return.

Klingberg doesn’t play most of the third

Mark Stepneski: Coach Jim Montgomery said that forward Blake Comeau is probably for tomorrow.

Defenseman John Klingberg blocked a shot in the third and didn’t play after. There was no update after the game.

Bertuzzi could return this weekend

Ted Kulfan: Detroit Red Wings coach Jeff Blashill said that forward Tyler Bertuzzi could be ready to return this weekend.

Hawryluk activated

Florida Panthers PR: The Panthers activated forward Jayce Hawryluk form the IR and placed Mackenzie Weegar on the IR.

Hendricks and Rask day-to-day

Minnesota Wild: Coach Bruce Boudreau said that Matt Hendricks has an upper-body injury and that Victor Rask has a lower-body injury. Both are considered day-to-day.

Pontus Aberg could take the morning today but likely isn’t ready to return just yet.

Ekholm ill

Nashville Predators: Defenseman Mattias Ekholm missed last night’s game due to an illness.

Borowiecki not traveling

Brent Wallace: Ottawa Senators defenseman Mark Borowiecki didn’t travel with the team on their road trip.

Palat returns

Bryan Burns: Tampa Bay Lightning forward Ondrej Palat returned to the lineup after missing two games with an upper-body injury.

Tampa Bay Lightning: Defenseman Erik Cernak is still listed as day-to-day according to coach Jon Cooper.

Johnsson suffers a leg injury

Mike Augello: Toronto Maple Leafs coach Mike Babcock on Andreas Johnsson: “Obviously, we hope he’s okay. They’ll be doing everything precautionary, we’ll look at it tomorrow and see what goes on. Ennis is dying to get in anyway, I think.”

James Mirtle: Auston Matthews said after the game that Johnsson’s injury wasn’t that serious.

Johnsson did leave the room on crutches so his status for Saturday isnt’ known.
