Howard WGR: Buffalo Sabres coach Phil Housley said that defenseman Lawrence Pilut was put on the IR retroactive to Friday. He’s eligible to play against the Capitals on Friday.

Pat Steinberg: Calgary Flames forward Sam Bennett missed last night’s game with upper-body injury.

Blackhawks active two

John Dietz: The Chicago Blackhawks have activated forward Artem Anisimov and defenseman Gustav Forsling.

Spezza sick … Three injured Stars Dmen skate

Mike Heika: Dallas Stars forward Jason Spezza missed last night’s game with an illness.

Sean Shapiro: Defensemen Connor Carrick, Stephen Johns and John Klingberg all skated yesterday morning with the team at their morning skate.

That was the first skate/practice for Carrick and Johns in a long time.

Howard hurts his back

Dana Wakiji: Detroit Red Wings goaltender Jimmy Howard injured his back during warmups and didn’t dress.

Little update given on Dumba

Michael Russo of The Athletic: Not getting much of update on Minnesota Wild defenseman Matt Dumba. Dumba suffered an upper-body injury on Saturday and will be out for at least a week.

“He’ll probably miss this week for sure,” coach Bruce Boudreau said. “That’s about as much of an update as you’re going to get.”

Coach Bruce Boudreau wouldn’t say if Dumba suffered the injury during his fight with Matthew Tkachuk.

Hickey being evaluated

Andrew Gross: Coach Barry Trotz said that defenseman Thomas Hickey was being evaluated. He didn’t skate yesterday.

Andy Graziano: Would think that Hickey is being evaluated for a concussion.
