On the Pittsburgh Penguins …

Jason Mackey of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette: Defenseman Kris Letang missed his seventh consecutive game with a lower-body injury.

Goaltender Matt Murray suffered a lower-body injury in the second period and didn’t return for the third. Penguins coach Mike Sullivan expects to know more about Murray’s injury this morning. Murray took some contact from Trevor Daley on Lee Stempniak‘s goal at 12:32 in the second, but didn’t appear to be injured on the play.

Dave Molinari: Defenseman Brian Dumoulin will be out for six to eight weeks with a broken jaw that requires surgery.

On the Florida Panthers …

Harvey Fialkov of the Sun-Sentinel: Center Aleksander Barkov left in the second period with an undisclosed injury. Coach Tom Rowe wouldn’t say much about the injury, but added they would call up Michael Sgarbossa.

“He’s day to day, we’ll know more tomorrow,’’ Rowe said.

Jonathan Huberdeau is still on target for a mid-February return from his Achilles tendon tear.

Alex Petrovic is expected to be out another month with his broken foot. He’s missed the past 19 games.

On the Philadelphia Flyers …

Dave Isaac of the Courier-Post: Center Sean Couturier returned to the lineup last night after missing 16 games with a knee injury.

On the New Jersey Devils …

NHL.com: Winger Taylor Hall won’t play tonight and is day-to-day with a lower-body injury. The injury is not related to the knee surgery he had in November.

Vern Fiddler is out three to four weeks with a lower-body injury.

On the Chicago Blackhawks …

Brian Hedger: Marian Hossa didn’t travel with the team to Nashville. It doesn’t appear that he’ll be able to play against Carolina but coach Joel Quenneville is hopeful he can play in the Winter Classic.

On the Detroit Red Wings …

Ansar Khan: Justin Abdelkader skated briefly yesterday. Tyler Bertuzzi and Alexey Marchenko both practiced. Mike Green and Darren Helm didn’t skate.

On the Anaheim Ducks …

OC Register: Defenseman Clayton Stoner had abdominal surgery on December 21st and will be out four to six weeks.

Defenseman Sami Vatanen won’t travel with the team on their two-game road trip that starts tonight because of an illness.

Jon Rosen: The LA Kings put forward Tyler Toffoli on the IR.

Jon Rosen: Kyle Clifford doesn’t have a concussion but may have an upper-body injury.

On the Calgary Flames …

Pat Steinberg: Mikael Backlund should be able to play tonight. He suffered just a bruise after blocking a shot Tuesday night.

Roger Millions: GM Brad Treliving said that Troy Brouwer has a broken finger and is out week-to-week. He had surgery on Tuesday.
