Murray travels with the Penguins and could be ready for tonight

Pens Inside Scoop: Pittsburgh Penguins coach Mike Sullivan on goaltender Matt Murray: “He practiced full today with the team. We thought he had a strong practice. We’ll see how he responds. He’s status quo at this point but we’ll make decisions on a day-to-day basis.”

Wes Crosby of NHL.com: Murray practiced again yesterday and traveled with the team Montreal. He missed their game on Thursday and is day-to-day with a concussion. Coach Sullivan will speak with their team doctors to see if he’ll be able to play against the Canadiens.

“We thought he had a strong practice,” Penguins coach Mike Sullivan said Friday. “We’ll see how he responds. He’s status quo at this point, but we’ll make decisions on a day-to-day basis. … I think the nature of this injury is different, irrespective of the position. It’s hard to compare one to the other. They’re all different. That’s part of the challenge.”

Schwartz dealing with a lower-body injury

Lou Korac: St. Louis Blues Jaden Schwartz has a lower-body injury. He took a Vladimir Tarasenko shot to the foot/leg area and is doubtful for tonight according to coach Mike Yeo. Samuel Blais hasn’t been ruled out. Schwartz’s issue doesn’t appear to be long-term.

Senators put three on the IR

Ottawa Senators: The Senators have put Cody Ceci, Ryan Dzingel and Alex Formenton on the IR and recalled Christian Jaros and Nick Paul. Ceci has an upper-body injury, Dzingel a lower-body injury, and Formenton a concussion.

Wayne Scanlan: Ceci has been dealing with two injuries. Formenton suffered a concussion against the Flyers and was doing better yesterday.

Ek leaves practice early

Michael Russo: Coach Bruce Boudreau said that Joel Eriksson Ek isn’t sure if he’ll be in today after leaving practice early yesterday due to being a little sore.
