Luongo activated

Brian Compton of NHL.com: The Florida Panthers have activated goaltender Roberto Luongo off the IR. Panthers coach Bob Boughner said that Luongo is “real close” to being ready.

“Officially, if is ready, he could play, but we’re going to make that decision tomorrow,” Boughner said after an optional morning skate. “I could see him more playing when we get back home, he’s close. He’s real close.”

Red Wings injury updates

Helene St. James: Detroit Red Wings forward Thomas Vanek will be out for two to four weeks with a lower-body injury. Frans Nielsen is a possibility for Saturday. Andreas Athanasiou and his undisclosed injury are doubtful for Saturday.
