Arthur Staple: Forward John Tavares is week-to-week with a hamstring injury.

Andy Graziano: The Islanders are shutting forward Casey Cizikas down for the season with an undisclosed injury.

Arthur Staple: Coach Doug Weight said that it “doesn’t look great” for Travis Hamonic or Cizikas. Cizikas had been playing through the injury.

On the Tampa Bay Lightning …

Joe Smith: Steven Stamkos, Tyler Johnson, Cedric Paquette and Jason Garrison won’t play today.

On the Philadelphia Flyers …

Philadelphia Flyers: GM Ron Hextall said that Matt Read will be out six to eights with an upper-body injury.

Tim Panaccio: Read took a Nick Leddy shot off his arm, so obviously he has a broken arm is out six to eight weeks,

On the Boston Bruins …

Joe Haggerty: Forward Frank Vatrano will miss both games this weekend with an upper-body injury.

On the Dallas Stars …

Mark Stepneski: GM Jim Nill said that doctors will know more about Curtis McKenzie‘s eye injury once the swelling goes down. They are encouraged by the early signs so far.

Mark Stepneski: Nill said that McKenzie has a deep gash around his eye but there doesn’t appear to be any permanent damage to the his eye.

Mark Stepneski: Nill said that McKenzie was flying back to Dallas yesterday and will be further evaluated by doctors there. He isn’t to be active for the next five days.

Mark Stepneski: Nill said that Ales Hemsky is day-to-day with a hip issue.
