Three injured Bruins

Matt Porter: Boston Bruins defensemen Charlie McAvoy and Kevan Miller returned to the Boston yesterday.

Miller had blocked a shot and was to see a hand surgeon.

Coach Bruce Cassidy said that McAvoy was “not feeling right.”

Steve Conroy: McAvoy was sent to Boston for more testing. Coach Cassidy think it’s related to a hit that he took against the Oilers.

Matt Porter of the Boston Globe: The Boston Bruins are saying that David Backes has an upper-body injury, but there is some fear that it could be another concussion.

“We’ll list it as an upper-body injury,” coach Bruce Cassidy said after the game. “I think we all saw the hit.”

He took a shoulder to the head on his first shift on Thursday. He was cleared by concussion protocol but played just over six minutes as coach Cassidy said he was protecting him.

Chris Johnston: The Nashville Predators put Pekka Rinne on the IR.

Dan Milstein-Hockey: The St. Louis Blues have sent forward Nikita Soshnikov to San Antonio of the AHL on a conditioning stint.

Jones could return

Aaron Portzline of The Athletic: Columbus Blue Jackets defenseman Seth Jone skated for the sixth consecutive day yesterday. It’s looking like he could be ready to return on Tuesday, but it hasn’t been announced by the team. He’s been out almost a month with a strained knee.

“I can’t give you a specific date,” Jones said. “Nor can the trainers, I don’t think. I don’t know how it’s going to do on Monday at practice. We’ll just see. It’s just day by day, how confident I am on it, with contact and all that stuff.”
