  • Chip Alexander via twitter: Hurricanes owner Peter Karmanos has given GM Jim Rutherford the “do what he needs to do to improve the team” approval.
  • Darren Dreger of TSN: If the Panthers decide to trade Stephen Weiss, they’ll be looking to get a big deal, a lot more than what Mike Fisher and Kris Versteeg have gone for. Bryan McCabe could return to the Panthers lineup Friday or Saturday. McCabe hasn’t been asked nor expressed interest in waiving his no-movement clause.
