NHL Rumors: Kings, Coyotes, Flames, Oilers, Canucks and More
Jiri Hudler

On the Los Angeles Kings, Arizona Coyotes, Calgary Flames, Edmonton Oilers and Winnipeg Jets …

  • Pierre LeBrun of ESPN: It’s believed the Kings have had preliminary discussions about a contract extension for head coach Darryl Sutter.
  • LeBrun thinks that contract extension negotiations between the Coyotes and Mikkel Boedker have begun. Don’t sense that an offer has been presented just yet. Could the Coyotes look to trade Boedker if he not signed by the deadline, even if they are in the playoff race?
  • The Flames are getting calls on pending UFA Jiri Hudler. LeBrun doesn’t think that Hudler will be signing an extension with the Flames. He could be a nice top-six addition for a contender.
  • The Oilers are undecided on pending UFA Teddy Purcell. He’s fit in well of late with Taylor Hall and Leon Draisaitl.
  • Dustin Byfuglien to TSN on Tuesday about remaining with the Jets past this season.

“Yeah, I would love to,” said Byfuglien. “I’ve met a lot of good people and have some really good friends. I’ve been here for a long time. You never want to leave home. I’ve been here long enough. Family’s been here and I’ve had two kids here. It’s somewhere you don’t want to leave.”

LeBrun doesn’t think he’ll sign for less than five year. Money could be in the $7 to $7.5 million per season.

  • News 1130 Sports: The Canucks are working on getting defensive prospect Nikita Tryamkin to North America after the KHL season. Tryamkin’s KHL contract expires on April 30th, but the Canucks are working with Yekaterinburg Automobilist to grant him a release after their season ends. Tryamkin was drafted in the 3rd round in 2014 by the Canucks. He would be assigned to Utica of the AHL if they are able to bring him over.
