Injury Notes: Wings, Lightning, Sabres, Preds, Avs, Leafs, Canucks, Rangers, Ducks, Flames and Caps
  • Helene St. James: Red Wings Johan Franzen (concussion symptoms) will not be playing for Sweden at the Olympics.
  • Erik Erlendsson of the Tampa Tribune: Lightning’s goalie Ben Bishop left last night’s game after being hit in the head by the skate of Nikita Kucherov. Valtteri Filppula also left last night’s game with a lower-body injury after a collision in the second. Both players said they felt better after the game, with Bishop passing the concussion protocol, with his minor headache lessening with time.

“It didn’t feel very good, a little bit of a headache, but it’s gotten better as the game went on,’’ said Bishop, who reported he has never been diagnosed with a concussion. “No dizziness, but I felt a little weak after I got hit. Hopefully I’ll wake up (Friday) and feel good and be able to practice.’’
