Injuries: Staal, Lovejoy, Carcillo, Moss, Kane and Devils
  • Jim Jamieson: Eric Staal will be back in the Hurricanes lineup tonight.
  • Anaheim Ducks: Ducks Ben Lovejoy will be out six to eight weeks with a fractured finger.
  • Tracey Myers: Blackhawks Daniel Carcillo will be out for four weeks.
  • Tim Campbell of the Winnipeg Free Press: Jets Evander Kane is skating on his own and will travel with the team this week and could be a week away from returning.

“We’ll get him out for some light bumping here and (he’ll) still do the (injured reserve) skates on his own. I don’t have a better timeline, but he’s ahead of where we hoped he’d be or thought he’d be with the injury,” Maurice said. “He’s at least a week away in my mind, but he’s coming with the team and he’s skating with the team. I’m hoping by the end of this trip he’s practising with us, whether he’s wearing a non-contact sweater or not.”

  • Tom Gulitti: Devils Martin Havlat was put on the IR with a lower-body injury. Jordin Tootoo has a bruised foot and is already on the IR. GM Lou Lamoriello didn’t know if Michael Cammalleri would travel with the team to Pittsburgh. Lamoriello said that all of Cammalleri, Havlat and Tootoo are day-to-day.
  • Roger Millions: Flames Mikael Backlund missed practice yesterday for maintenance.
  • Kevin Kurz: The Sharks send Tyler Kennedy to the AHL on a conditioning assignment.
