Injuries: Howard, Coburn, Maatta, Komarov, Rinne and more
  • Brendan Savage of MLive: Red Wings Jimmy Howard has a slight groin tear and will be out for two to four weeks according to GM Ken Holland.
  • Tim Panaccio of CSN Philly: Flyers Braydon Coburn will be out for four weeks with a suspected fractured left foot. Coburn missed 12 games earlier this season when he fractured the same foot. Nicklas Grossman is two weeks away from returning from his shoulder injury.
  • Tom Gulitti of The Record: Devils Jaromir Jagr and Tuomo Ruutu both missed their third practice in a row due to the flu. They did’t travel with the team to Califonia for tonight’s game, but could join the team on the three game trip.
  • Jason Mackey: Penguins Olli Maatta will have surgery today and is done for the year.
  • Paul Friesen: Jets Evander Kane admits that he’s not 100 percent healthy: “No, definitely not. But I can play and contribute.”
  • Paul Hendrick: Maple Leafs Leo Komarov was getting treatment for his shoulder, but could play tonight.
  • Sarah McLellan: Coyotes Brandon Gormley missed last night’s game with a lower-body injury. Martin Hanzal is possible for Thursday.
  • Jim Diamond: Predators Pekka Rinne left with a lower-body injury. He’ll be re-evaluated today, but with the team off today, an update may not come until Thursday.
