Injuries: Blues, Pens, Jets, Lightning, Coyotes, Sens and Sabres
  • Tom Timmermann of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch: Blues Carl Gunnarsson has been cleared to play. He suffered a concussion on December 6th from an elbow by Islanders Anders Lee.

“He’s cleared head-wise and now it’s conditioning-wise,” Hitchcock said. “How he conditions after today and then gets through tomorrow’s practice will determine when he’s ready to play, but he’s cleared from a fitness standpoint because of the injury he had. We’re not prepared to put him in full until we feel like his hip has loosened up to where he’s ready to go and we don’t have any repercussions there.”

T.J. Oshie missed last night’s game due to family reasons.

  • Josh Yohe: Penguins Beau Bennett has been diagnosed with the mumps. He’s the 15th NHLer to be diagnosed with it.
  • Winnipeg Jets: Defenseman Jacob Trouba will be out until February with an upper-body injury.
  • Tampa Bay Lightning: Ben Bishop said he “tweaked something” at the end of the first period on Monday.

“I knew that it was something you don’t really want to mess with,” said Bishop, who didn’t return to the game following the first intermission and is listed as day-to-day with a lower-body injury. “It was 1:15 left, we were on the power play, so I wasn’t going to leave the game right then and there because it’s not too often you have too many shots on the power play. I figured I could hold out until then.”

He hopes to be back on either Friday or Saturday.

  • Joe Smith: Lightning’s Radko Gudas and Ondrej Palat are hopeful to return this weekend.
  • Katie Strang: The Calgary Flames received their mumps vaccinations two weeks ago. Nobody has shown any symptoms.
  • Sarah McLellan: Coyotes defenseman Michael Stone left last night’s game with an upper-body injury.
  • Jameson Olive: The Panthers put Shawn Thornton (lower-body) on the IR.
  • Sabres PR: The Sabres put defenseman Mike Weber on the IR.
  • Corey Pronman: Coyotes Brandon Gormley hasn’t played in a month due to injury, has been reassigned to the AHL.
