Briere, Betts to sit out tomorrow … Sacco should stay, Avs should offer Bryzgalov a deal … Stastny done for year … What to do with Voracek and Brassard
  • Marcus Hayes of the Philadelphia Daily News: Flyers forward Danny Briere will likely sit out tomorrows game with lower body soreness. Blair Betts will be out too. Chris Pronger suffered a setback last week, will be back skating this week. All should be ready for the playoffs.
  • Adrian Dater of the Denver Post: Despite being in the bottom of the league after making the playoffs last year, Dater thinks that coach Joe Sacco deserves to hold on to his job for next season. The Avs will have to decide if they want to re-sign UFA Tomas Fleischmann. He may want big money, and the Avs don’t have a positive history when it comes to re-signing their own UFA’s. Dater thinks the Avs should make Ilya Bryzgalov a big offer if he becomes available.
  • Terry Frei of the Denver Post: Avalanche forward Paul Stastny is done for the year due to a stress fracture in his leg. Adam Foote missed his 9th straight game, and it’s not known if he’ll be able to get into a game this year before he retires.
  • Aaron Portzline of the Columbus Dispatch: The Blue Jackets may be debating this off-season if Derick Brassard and Jake Voracek will ever develop into the top line players they had hoped for. Do they move either of them? Brassard was marginally better this year (45-50 point range) and Voracek was basically the same. GM Scott Howson is likely more willing to trade one of them compared to last year. Voracek may have a higher potential, but he’s a RFA and contract talks “could get sticky.”
