Morning Hits: Lindholm, Wisniewski, Rangers and Pastrnak
Hampus Lindholm of the Anaheim Ducks and Rick Nash of the New York Rangers
On the Anaheim Ducks …

Eric Stephens: Breakdown of Hampus Lindholm’s six-year contract: $3M (2016-17), $6M (2017-18), $6.75M (2018-19), $5.25M (2019-20), $3.75M (2020-21), $6.75M (2021-22).

Pierre LeBrun: Contract has some lockout protection for 2020-21 season with the lower salary. The NHL or NHLPA can opt out of the CBA.

Bob McKenzie: Lindholm carries a $5.73 million salary cap hit this season and $5.2 milliion for the last five years of the deal. The different cap hits is due to an RFA signing after the start of the season, as per the CBA.

Bob McKenzie: Lindholm was in Sweden and will need to get his visa, which can take a week or two.

Chris Nichols: Darren Dreger on TSN 1050: “I don’t think there was any serious consideration from Bob Murray and the #NHLDucks’ perspective to trade Hampus Lindholm.”

Chris Nichols: Pierre LeBrun on TSN 1200:  “For now, it’s clear to me that Bob Murray wants to give this group one last shot at it, and that includes Fowler…”

Curtis Zupke: GM Bob Murray said they have some financial leeway from ownership. The Ducks haven’t been a cap team since Brian Burke was their GM.

Eric Stephens: Forward Emerson Etem cleared waivers but remains with the team. If he’s sent to the AHL could depend on Ryan Getzlaf‘s status for tonight.

On James Wisniewski

Darren Dreger: Wisniewski signed a contract with KHL’s Vladivostok Admirals, and the deal includes an NHL out clause.

On the New York Rangers …

Justin Tasch: Coach Alain Vigneault said that it’s a “definite possibility” that the Rangers go with 22 roster players for salary cap reasons when everyone is healthy.

Larry Brooks: Even though they were are able to put Josh Jooris on the IR, the Rangers put Dylan McIlrath on waivers as they weren’t going to go with eight defensemen. It’s 50/50 that a team claims him.

On the Boston Bruins …

NHL Player Safety: David Pastrnak will have a hearing today for his charge/illegal check to the head of Dan Girardi.
