Rumors out of Colorado and San Jose … Kaberle wants to remain on the east, long-term … Selanne could retire after season … An Oshie return tonight
  • Andy Strickland of True Hockey: With the return of Chris Stewart last week, the Avalanche have some extra forwards and may look to move one for a quality defenseman. The Avs may be shopping Brandon Yip. Tomas Kaberle continues to be in the rumor mill, he’s set on remaining in the east and might consider a trade if a long-term extension is in place. Strickland wonders if Chris Phillips would sign with the Senators this summer even if he’s traded. Teams have inquired about Mike Fisher. The Sharks would be willing to move a top-6 forward to get the defenseman they covet, though many of their top-6 have no-trade clauses.
  • David Pollak of the San Jose Mercury News: The San Jose Sharks could be on a deal, but not the rumored defenseman that has been talked about for months. They could be looking at adding  “experience, speed, size, energy and grit to the third or fourth line.” They’ve relied heavily on their farm team to fill those lines, and now have injuries to Ryane Clowe and Torrey Mitchell. Scott Nichol will be having his hit on David Schlemko looked at by the league.
  • Curtis Zupke of the OC Register: Teemu Selanne has said this could be last season in the NHL. “Some days I feel like I can play five more years,” Selanne said. “(But) most days I feel that this is it. I’m not going to say anything for sure. I’m going to take a little time off after the season and see how much fun (I’m having) and how healthy I am. But I still look at (this) as my last year.”
  • Bob McKenzie via twitter: There have been some rumors that the Islanders could be trading Matt Moulson, if it does happen, won’t be to Boston. McKenzie also reports that Isles GM Garth Snow has told Moulson’s side that they’d like to sign an extension, negotiations haven’t started.
  • The Hockey News: Panthers defenseman Bryan McCabe should miss 4-6 weeks with a broken jaw.
  • Andy Strickland of True Hockey: TJ Oshie could return to the Blues lineup as early as tonight. He took part in full workout yesterday, including contact. How the ankle is this morning could determine if he plays or not. Carlo Colaiacovo was back practicing yesterday after missing a couple games, took a puck in the face. Phillip Mcrae was practicing on a line with Backes and Steen. If Kyle Wellwood clears waivers, we could play tonight on a line with Patrik Berglund and Vladimir Sobotka.
