Wild Put Konopka On Waivers … Could the Jets, Oilers and Flames Be Interested? Wild Notes
  • Michael Russo of the Star-Tribune: The Wild have put center Zenon Konopka of waivers today. Coach Yeo said it was because they needed to call up a goalie (recalled Darcy Kuemper. Josh Harding not ready yet.), but Russo doesn’t buy that.  Michael Rupp could have been put on waivers. Keith Ballard will be a healthy scratch as they activated Clayton Stoner. They could have kept Stoner on the IR for one more game. They could have also returned Stephane Veilleux to the minors.
  • Gary Lawless: Lawless wonders if the Jets will put a claim in on Konopka. He’d bring an element they are missing. Good on the faceoffs and carries a $925,000  cap hit.
  • Mark Spector: Spector responds to Lawless saying how he doesn’t see how Konopka gets past the Oilers or Flames: “Cheap, tough, wins face-offs. 4th line C.”
  • Mark Spector: Spector does note that both the Oilers and Flames have had a couple chances to sign Konopka in the past and didn’t show much interest in doing so.
