  • Bob McKenzie via twitter: Tom Poti has signed a contract extension with the Washington Capitals, 2 year and $5.75 million ($2.875 million cap hit). He’ll get $3 million next year and $2.75 million in 2012-13. Corey Masisak via twitter: Poti said he left money on the table to hopefully win more than 1 cup in Washington.
  • Joe Haggerty via twitter: Bruins forward Milan Lucic refutes the report that is ankle isn’t 100%. Says it’s felt really good since mid July and isn’t giving him any problems.
  • Chris Botta via twitter: New York Islanders owner Charles Wang says that no progress has been made with the Lighthouse project, “We have a lease until 2105. We’ll be here to 2015.” Katie Strang via twitter: Wang said the Isles will remain on Long Island until their lease expires but will entertain other options for the future.
  • Jonas Siegel via twitter: Nazem Kadri will play in 3 of the Maple Leafs first 5 games, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. Jonas Gustavsson will play the entire 5th game. James Mirtle via twitter: Ron Wilson says he needs to see if Nazem Kadri can play in the NHL, he has to earn a spot.
