NHL Trade: Senators Acquire Wingels From Sharks
San Jose Sharks trade Tommy Wingels to the Ottawa Senators

The Ottawa Senators have acquired forward Tommy Wingels from the San Jose Sharks for winger Buddy Robinson, winger Zack Stortini and a 2017 7th round pick.

Frank Seravalli: The Sharks are retaining 30% of Wingels salary. He carries a $2.475 million salary cap hit. It will cost the Senators about $721,875 in salary for the remainder of the season.

The 28-year old Wingels was drafted 177th overall in the 6th round of the 2008 draft by the Sharks. He’ll be an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season.

The 25-year old Robinson was undrafted and carries a $750,000 NHL cap hit. He will be a RFA at the end of the season.

The 31-year old Stortini was drafted 94th overall in the 3rd round of the 2003 draft by the  Oilers. He carries a $600,000 NHL cap hit and will be a UFA at the end of the season.
