Rumors XI: Blackhawks, Jets, Rangers, Wild and Coyotes
  • Pierre LeBrun of ESPN: The Blackhawks now hope to make a trade or two, and are among the teams interested in Antoine Vermette. The Jets, Rangers and a few others are also interested in Vermette. The Blackhawks have a list of forwards they are interested in.
  • Pierre LeBrun of ESPN: The Wild may not be finished trading after adding Sean Bergenheim on Tuesday.

“Yeah, we’re still looking,” Fletcher said. “We like our team, but again, we’re down three forwards and two defensemen, with 22 games to go, sometimes it’s hard to get healthier. If we can continue to improve our depth and the acquisition cost makes sense, we’ll look at it. We’re not trying to reinvent our team, we just want to make sure we have enough depth and enough quality veteran players to get through these next 22 games and hopefully make the playoffs.”

  • Mike Morreale of NHL.com: Coyotes GM Don Maloney plans on making three or four trades by the deadline.

“We will retool at the end of the year, so for us we’re in sell-off mode and we’ve been very public about that,” Maloney told Devils radio color commentator Sherry Ross. “We’re waiting to get what we think is a good price for some of our players. I’m sure we’ll be making three or four deals.”

“We’re more interested in prospects or 18-year-old college players rather than the short-term fix,” Maloney said. “The rumors and gossip has been hard for . We like our veterans, but we have to bring in younger assets, so some players that have been good players for us have to go.”

  • David Pagnotta: Coyotes Zbynek Michalek is still drawing interest despite being out with an injury. He’ll likely be moved, with the return depending on the his injury status.
  • Stephen Whyno: The Coyotes recalling Henrik Samuelsson kind of indicates that they could be close to trading Antoine Vermette.
