Rumors VII: Ducks, Senators, Maple Leafs and Bruins
  • Luke Fox of Sportsnet: Ducks GM Bob Murray will make one last attempt to sign pending UFA Matt Beleskey, but it’s looking like Beleskey will hit the open market.

“It’s a bumpy road right now. I’m not going to lie. We’re going to take one more shot at it, and then we’ll have to move on,” Murray told Hockey Central at Noon Monday.

“You gotta protect yourself. It’s not just the contract this year; it’s what it does to your team in future years. You’ve gotta be looking one, three, five, seven years out. You gotta see what that contract does to you, the term of it. There’s lots of things that go into this that people don’t see right off the bat.”

The Ducks could look to trade his rights before July 1st.

  • Bob McKenzie: The Ducks don’t have any plans to trade either Frederik Andersen or John Gibson unless they get an offer they can’t pass up.
  • Bob McKenzie: The Ducks are still talking with UFA defenseman Francois Beauchemin about new deal. They are hopeful that they can get something done.
  • Bob McKenzie: The Senators are increasing their efforts to trade either Robin Lehner or Craig Anderson this week. They are talking trade with involving both players, but Lehner is the most likely to be dealt.
  • Igor Eronko: Nikita Zaitsev to Sportizen.ru: “I can’t sign anything now but I visited #Leafs and was pleasantly shocked by the reception … I visited #Leafs office and the arena, locker-room, talked to GM and the head coach and was very impressed … #Leafs were the only team that had a real big interest in me. I did some tests during the visit … I want to leave the #KHL as a winner and I’ll spend the year in Russia to be absolutely prepared for the #NHL”
  • Jimmy Murphy: Think that Bruins Milan Lucic, David Krejci, Adam McQuaid and Brad Marchand are all in play, but wouldn’t be a surprise if all remain in Boston.
