Rumors and Notes: Rangers, Oilers, Blackhawks, Panthers and More
Brandon Pirri and Alex Steen
On the New York Rangers …

Rangers Report: The Rangers signing Brandon Pirri has nothing to do regarding Rick Nash. Pirri just adds to their depth and a guy who will shoot the puck.

Steve Zipay: After signing Pirri, the Rangers may have a surplus of forwards and it could lead to a trade for a defenseman.

Chris Botta: Think the Rangers are likely done, maybe a minor move if anything.

On the Edmonton Oilers …

Gene Principe: Shawn Horcoff on him signing a PTO with the Oilers: “No truth to the rumors. Not happening”

Jim Matheson: Eric Gryba still wants to return to Edmonton, and if he signs a PTO anywhere, it would be with the Oilers as they are familiar with him.

On the Chicago Blackhawks …

Scott Powers: Source saying the Blackhawks have not shown interest in Alex Tanguay as of yesterday.

On the Florida Panthers …

Harvey Fialkov: Source saying that the Panthers have been trying to move David Bolland’s contract for the past several months.

Harvey Fialkov: It would have been hard for Lawson Crouse to make the Panthers this year after they brought in for Colton Sceviour and Jonathan Marchessault.

On Las Vegas …

Justin Emerson of the Las Vegas Review-Journal: Last week the domain names for  lasvegasdesertknights.com, vegasdesertknights.com and desertknightshockey.com were registered.

Owner Bill Foley would not comment on names in a text message. There is no indication that the domains are tied to Foley. Foley has confirmed that they have registered some domain names for Nighthawks, Desert Hawks and Red Hawks last month.

On the St. Louis Blues …

Lou Korac: Alex Steen met with doctors and was trying to get clearance for the World Cup. His rehab has expected to be four to six months. He’ll be reevaluated on October 3rd.

On the Arizona Coyotes …

Craig Morgan: The Coyotes are at 46 player contracts.

General Fanager: The Coyotes are at 50 contracts, but Chychrun, Merkley, Crouse, Fischer and Strome would be exempt if sent back to junior.
