On the Calgary Flames …

Pierre LeBrun: The Flames and Johnny Gaudreau agree on a six-year contract with a cap hit of $6.75 million. The Flames didn’t want to go over $7 million.

Bob McKenzie: Gaudreau will get a $3 million signing bonus now, and will get a $3.5 million signing bonus during the potential lockout year in 2020-21.

Alex Prewitt: Gaudreau will have a limited no-trade clause (five teams he could be trade to) during the years that he would have been a UFA.

On the Edmonton Oilers …

Mark Spector: No official announcement yet, but sounding like Kris Versteeg will get a deal from the Oilers.

Chris Nichols: Oiles GM Peter Chiarelli on SiriusXM yesterday on Versteeg’s future with the Oilers: “Not at this time, but you’ll know something shortly.”

Bob Stauffer: Do not see the Oiles making a waiver claim on Teemu Pulkkinen, P.A. Parenteau or Mark McNeill.

Bruce McCurdy of the Edmonton Journal: McCurdy thinks the Oilers could be interested in right-handed P.A. Parenteau, Teemu Pulkkinen and Mark McNeill, who were all put on waivers yesterday.

On the Toronto Maple Leafs …

Mark Masters: Maple Leafs GM Lou Lamoriello on Mitch Marner: “He’s not on a (9-game) tryout. At this point he’s made the team.”

On the Detroit Red Wings …

Ansar Khan: Red Wings coach Jeff Blashill said that one of Andreas Athanasiou or Anthony Mantha will be with the team on opening night. They are hopeful that Pulkkinen clears waivers. Update – Mantha assigned to the AHL.

On the Boston Bruins …

Bob McKenzie: The Bruins had some interest in signing defenseman Christian Ehrhoff, who was on a PTO, to a contract, but since he knew he wouldn’t be in their top-six, he decided to return home in Germany.

On the Winnipeg Jets …

Jim Matheson: Nobody will claim Ondrej Pavelec and his $3.9 million contract off waivers.

On the Tampa Bay Lightning …

Joe Smith: If Cory Conacher, Erik Condra and Joel Vermin clear waivers, there is no guarantee that all will be sent to the AHL according to coach Jon Cooper.
