Rumors IV: Lightning, Preds, Habs, Bruins, Kings and More
Loui Eriksson
  • TSNs Insider Trading: Bob McKenzie: Upwards of twelve teams have had significant talks with the Tampa Bay Lightning about Jonathan Drouin. GM Steve Yzerman could narrow it down to one or two offers soon (24-72 hours), or he’ll slow play it if doesn’t like what’s being offered. Some teams may move on if it drags on.
  • Pierre LeBrun: The Predators are still looking to add another offensive forward before the trade deadline.
  • Pierre LeBrun: Don’t sense that Michel Therrien’s job with the Canadiens is in jeopardy at this time. If the Canadiens continue to slide the rest of the year, things could change.
  • Darren Dreger: Preliminary contract extension talks between pending UFA Loui Eriksson and the Boston Bruins have begun. Dreger thinks Eriksson will be looking for a five- or six-year deal at possibly more than $6 million per season. If the Bruins decide they don’t want to go that high, they could look to trade him to the West (mentions Nashville) before the deadline. The Bruins need to see where they are at in negotiations first.
  • Darren Dreger: Highly unlikely that Vincent Lecavalier changes his mind about retiring after the season. It might be possible that if Kings GM Dean Lombardi were able to create the salary cap room, they could see if he would change his mind.  It would have to a big turnaround for that to happen though.
  • Pierre LeBrun: Patrick Marleau’s agent, Pat Brisson, continues to work behind the scenes about a potential trade. May be more of an offseason trade as opposed to an in-season move for the Sharks.
  • Bob McKenzie:  Blue Jackets prospect Kerby Rychel had asked for a trade in the offseason, but only if he wasn’t able to make team. He’s playing more often now, but the Blue Jackets are looking at all of their options and he could still be dealt.
  • Pierre LeBrun: The Stars are would like to add another top defenseman.
