Rumors II: Rumblings – Devils, Bruins, Stars and Rangers
  • Pierre LeBrun of ESPN: It seems as if teams are waiting until Sunday or Monday to make moves on rental players.

“No one wants to blink yet,” said one Eastern Conference team executive Tuesday.

This year’s draft picks are holding more stock, and nobody wants to give them away.

“You make offers and the answer is that it’s not enough right now,” one Eastern Conference buyer told ESPN.com Tuesday. “Everyone just seems to be waiting each other out. Historically, stuff has happened earlier but it doesn’t look that way now.”

  • Pierre LeBrun of ESPN: Devils GM Lou Lamoriello still isn’t throwing in the towel.

“We’re just focusing on the next game and not focusing on anything else,” Lamoriello told ESPN.com Tuesday morning.

Still have to think that pending UFAs like Jaromir Jagr will be traded. Marek Zidlicky has a full no-trade clause and hasn’t been contacted by the Devils about waiving it.

“We’ll do whatever is right for the organization and make whatever decisions have to be made, one way or the other,” Lamoriello said over the phone.

  • Pierre LeBrun of ESPN: Bruins GM Peter Chiarelli has contacted lots of teams about hockey and rental deals. So far, he’s still finding the prices too high. It is believed they’ve went back to the Sabres about Chris Stewart, but GM Tim Murray still wants a second round pick and a prospect. The Bruins have talked to the Blue Jackets about Cam Atkinson. A Western Conference source suggests it would have to be home run offer for the Blue Jackets to trade him. If the Stars becomes sellers, Erik Cole will interest the Bruins.
  • Pierre LeBrun of ESPN: The Rangers are keeping an eye on Andrej Sekera and Antoine Vermette, but they are unlikely to be involved in the bidding unless the price comes down.
