Rumors II: Radulov, Sedin’s, Canes, Caps, Flyers and Jets

On Alexander Radulov …

  • Igor Eronko: (Nov. 25th) The CEO of CSKA told R-Sport that they will sign Alexander Radulov to a long-term contract soon.
  • Igor Eronko: Radulov said “there’s nothing” about a new contract with CSKA and added “I’m a free agent after this season, let’s see.”
  • Slava Malamud: Radulov has rejected CSKA contract extension offers and is determined to become a free agent after the season. A return to the NHL is a possbilitiy.
  • Slava Malamud: If Radulov were to return to the NHL, he would be a UFA.
  • Randy Sportak: It will be interesting to see if any NHL team would give the 30-year old another shot. His last return in Nashville didn’t end that well.

On the Sedin twins …

  • Jason Brough of Pro Hockey Talk: Canucks GM Jim Benning on Daniel and Henrik Sedin.

“As far as I’m concerned, the Sedins are going to retire as Vancouver Canucks,” Benning told TSN 1040.

On the Hurricanes, Capitals, Flyers and Jets …

  • Jim Matheson of the Edmonton Journal: Can’t see the Hurricanes signing Eric Staal to a contract extension. The Predators might be a team interested in Staal. Coach Peter Laviolette was a coach in Carolina before, and Nashville is only a couple hours away.
  • The Capitals are looking for a third line center. Mikael Backlund (CGY) and Patrik Berglund (STL) could be good fits there, though Berglund may be better suited as a winger. (Berglund is still injured)
  • The Flyers are desperate for some help on the wing. They are deep in defensive prospects – Travis Sanheim, Ivan Provorov, Samuel Morin and Robert Hagg – but they would rather not move one of their young prospects that have potential.
  • The Jets could take a run at Cam Ward. Coach Paul Maurice coached Ward in Carolina.

On the Flyers …

  • Eklund of Hockey Buzz: Have heard the Blue Jackets, Sharks, and Ducks have inquired about Luke Schenn. The Bruins could be another team that looks into Schenn.
  • Defenseman Evgeny Medvedev hasn’t worked out for the Flyers, and Alex Ovechkin could push the Capitals to consider him.
