Rumors I: Leafs, Canucks, Pens, Canes, Oilers and Scouting PHI-ARI
  • TSN Insider Trading: Darren Dreger: the Leafs still haven’t decided if they’ll be buyers or sellers yet. There is interest in Mike Santorelli and Daniel Winnik, with the Pens making an offer for Winnik.Pierre LeBrun: Cody Franson’s reps think they’ll get an offer from the Leafs soon. LeBrun doesn’t think it will be close to what he could get on the open market. There will be lots of interest at the deadline if they are going to move him.Darren Dreger: the Canucks are interested in Bruins Matt Bartkowski.
  • Darren Dreger: The Penguins made a trade offer to Maple Leafs forward Daniel Winnik. The Leafs aren’t ready to move him just yet.
  • Andy Strickland: Hurricanes Jay McClement is another bottom six center who’s name is out there.
  • David Pagnotta: It’s been quiet lately, but the Oilers are still evaluating their options. Jeff Petry is expected to be moved, possibly Viktor Fasth as well. Nail Yakupov, Jordan Eberle, Taylor Hall, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and Andrew Ference have generated interest, but unless they offered the right deal, it’s unlikely they  make a deal at the deadline. Think is more likely that Yakupov and/or Eberle are moved at some point over Hall or Nugent-Hopkins. Ference has a no-movement clause, but you never know. He could be a darkhorse on deadline day. Ference has two more years on his deal and a team would have to pay up to get him. There would be plenty of teams interested in Ference.
  • Chip Alexander: Hurricanes GM Ron Francis said he’ll talk with Andrej Sekera this week and get the “bottom line” on the contract term and money. Francis added that he briefly talked to Jiri Tlusty agent last week.
  • Chip Alexander: Hurricanes coach Peters patience is running out with Alex Semin. Alexander wonder what could be next for Semin: waivers, AHL, a buyout?
  • David Pagnotta: The Hurricanes haven’t had any recent talks with Sekera’s agent.
  • Adam Kimelman: Scouting the Flyers and Coyotes: Blackhawks, Wild, Jets, Predators, Sabres, Flames, Avalanche, Capitals and Red Wings.
