Rumors and Notes: Goalies, Senators, Gryba and Gudas
Radko Gudas and Tampa Bay?

On goaltenders …

Kevin Allen of USA Today:  Looking at the goaltending situations of several teams.

Penguins Matt Murray is out for a bit with a broken hand. Marc-Andre Fleury will be the No. 1 goalie to start the season, but will the Penguins look to trade Fleury if the opportunity arises.

Ben Bishop has a year left on his contract, and Andrei Vasilevskiy appears to be their goalie of the future. Vasilevskiy received a three year contract extension this offseason. The Lightning don’t have to trade Bishop.

Both Petr Mrazek and Jimmy Howard have had consistency issues. Mrazek should be the teams No. 1.

The Stars have Kari Lehtonen and Antti Niemi under contract for the next two seasons. They may have to consider adding a goalie at the trade deadline if one of Lehtonen and Niemi doesn’t step up.

On the Ottawa Senators …

Ken Warren of the Ottawa Sun: The Senators are looking at internal options – Ryan Dzingel, Zack Smith, Phil Varone and Matt Puempel – to replace the injured Clarke MacArthur.

Shouldn’t rule out the possibility of Senators adding a new face before their season opener on Wednesday.

GM Pierre Dorion will be looking at trade and waiver options this weekend. Opening day rosters are due on Tuesday afternoon.

“There are still lots of things that are up for grabs and there are a few days left before Tuesday at 5 o’clock,” Boucher said. “A lot of things can happen from now until then.”

On Eric Gryba

Jason Gregor: Defenseman Eric Gryba has been given permission to talk to other teams. If he doesn’t get any offers, he could continue to skate with the Oilers, but without a contract.

On Radko Gudas

Darren Dreger: The NHL Department of Player Safety is looking at Radko Gudas’ hit on Bruins Austin Czarnik. It hasn’t been determined if there will be a hearing or not.
