Penguins scouting Wild? O’Reilly unlikely for Rangers … Dmen for Senators
  • Michael Russo of the Star Tribune: The Penguins scouted the Wild earlier this week. The Penguins are looking for a top-6 forward and may have been looking at Pierre-Marc Bouchard and/or Devin Setoguchi.
  • Larry Brooks of the NY Post: The Rangers have called the Avs about Ryan O’Reilly, but it’s unlikely they will go after him. The asking price of what O’Reilly is looking for will keep them away. The Rangers will have 3 prominent RFAs that they’ll need to re-sign this summer, Ryan McDonagh, Derek Stepan and Carl Hagelin.
  • Jim Matheson of the Edmonton Journal: Senators GM Bryan Murray isn’t giving up on the season, but he won’t give away their first round pick or a top prospect for a defenseman. Matheson wonders if they’d be interested in Ryan Whitney. Other defensman that may be available are: Tomas Kaberle, Roman Hamrlik, Mike Komisarek, Marc-Andre Bergeron and Jonathan Blum. Matheson thinks the Oilers should keep Whitney, but if they got a third rounder or better back, they might have to consider it.
