Burns Cancer takes a turn for the worse … Injury updates on Salo, Burrows, Salmela and Lydman
  • Tom Gulitti of the Bergon Record: Former coach Pat Quinn’s battle with lung cancer may have taken a turn for the worse. Burns returned to his home in Quebec, and is with his family. In 2004 Burns was diagnosed with colon cancer, a year later he was diagnosed with liver cancer. In 2009 it was made public that he had lung cancer, and wouldn’t undergo treatments for it.
  • Greg Brady via twitter: Vancouver Canucks GM Mike Gillis said Sami Salo will be out at least 5 months and Alex Burrows could miss the start of the regular season.
  • Tom Gulitti via twitter: New Jersey Devils defenseman Anssi Salmela is a couple months behind in his recovery from surgery on his torn ACL and meniscus.
  • Helene Elliott of the LA Times: Last week Anaheim Ducks defenseman Toni Lydman experience a bout of “double vision”. Lydman has experience migraines in the past, but they are not sure if that was the cause of the problem. They’ve been doing tests for the last week, and are still unsure what caused it. He won’t be allowed to participate in their training camp until they find out what the problems is, and how to treat it.
