Vegas trades David Schlemko to the Montreal Canadiens

The Vegas Golden Knights have traded defenseman David Schlemko to the Montreal Canadiens for a 2019 5th round pick.

The 30-year old left handed Schlemko went undrafted and carries a $2.1 million cap hit.

Thoughts from the media …

Cap Friendly: “After acquiring Schlemko and his $2.1M cap hit, we now have the #Habs with roughly $21,012,023 in projected cap space moving forward.”

Pierre LeBrun: “Habs get David Schlemko from Vegas. Solid pickup. Good skater, good contract”

Eric Engles: “No doubt are still in the market for a defenceman, even after the Schlemko acquisition. Marc Bergevin meets media in CHI at 2pm.”

Arpon Basu: “Man, a fifth round pick in 2019 for David Schlemko is pretty, pretty good.”

Anthony Petrielli: “Nobody would offer up higher than a 5th for a quality NHL dman that can play both sides and move up and down your top six?”

Eric Engels: “Schlemko had 2 goals, 18 points last year. Has three more seasons left on his contract at $2.1 million/per.”

Renaud Lavoie: “It’s now the 7th team for David Schlemko if we count the few hours he spent as a Golden Knights.”

Arpon Basu: “Habs are David Schlemko’s seventh team since 2014-15: ARI, DAL, CGY, NJD, SJS, VGK, MTL. Has never played more than 67 games in a season”

Andy Graziano: “Habs replace one of the three D-men they lost so far. Still can’t see them liking their current blueline situation.”
