Isabelle Khurshudyan: “MacLellan last week on D depth: “I think it concerns every team. I mean, nobody has five, six top-four defensemen.” Welp.”

Isabelle Khurshudyan: “MacLellan said he met with Backstrom and Ovechkin to get sense of how team felt. Ovi told him to go get someone. Backstrom told him not to.”

Nick Cotsonika: “Capitals already No. 1 in NHL standings, tied for second in goals per game, fifth on power play. Adding Shattenkirk?”

Nick Cotsonka: “I like going for it. I like keeping a player away from rivals. I wonder about screwing up chemistry when things are humming.”
