NHL Trade: Boston Bruins Trade For Defenseman Nick Holden
The New York Rangers have traded Nick Holden to the Boston Bruins

The Boston Bruins have acquired defenseman Nick Holden from the New York Rangers for a 2018 third-round pick and defenseman Rob O’Gara.

The 30-year old Nick Holden has undrafted. He carries a $1.65 million cap hit.

The 24-year old Rob O’Gara was drafted 151st in the 5th round of the 2011 draft by the Bruins. He carries a $925,000 cap hit.

Some thoughts from the media …

Dan Rosen: “So, Holden to the Bruins means the Bruins get the D they wanted for depth and the Rangers get a third-round pick, which is important to what they are trying to do, plus a depth, 24-year-old, minor-league D in O’Gara, who has some NHL experience and is RFA at end of season.”

Dan Rosen: “The Rangers now have 7 picks in the 2018 draft: A first, second, two thirds, fourth, fifth and sixth. Their number of selections will likely grow too.”

Michael Augello: “The market price has been set at a 3rd round pick for the lower level of the rental defenseman market. Kempny for a 3rd, Holden for a 3rd + O’Gara. Guys like Luke Schenn will get about the same. Only Green and Jack Johnson will get more in a deal.”
