NHL Rumors: Canucks, Coyotes, Leafs, Pens and Wings
Marc-Andre Fleury of the Pittsburgh Penguins
On the Vancouver Canucks …

TSN 1040: Ray Ferraro wonders that if the Canucks are going to buy out Alex Burrows or Chris Higgins for just dead salary cap space and not creating any on ice benefit, what is the point of buying them out?

On the Arizona Coyotes and Toronto Maple Leafs …

Luke Fox of Sportsnet: There was speculation that the Coyotes were offering both their first round picks (No. 7 and No. 20) and either Max Domi or Christian Dvorak to the Maple Leafs for the No. 1 pick and the right to draft Auston Matthews.

“I’m not exactly sure where people come up with this stuff. I personally find some of the reports that are out there are pretty ridiculous speculation,” the league’s youngest GM told Craig Morgan of ArizonaSports.com Tuesday.

“We’re still just in discussions, whether that means moving up or down, and up doesn’t even have to be No. 1.”

On the Pittsburgh Penguins …

Dave Molinari of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette: 39-year old Matt Cullen isn’t sure yet if he’ll retire or play another season.

“I don’t know,” he said. “It’s hard to top this. … I want to just enjoy it a little bit.”

The Penguins could look to move Marc-Andre Fleury this offseason. He was a limited no-trade clause and could be asked about leaving.

“I don’t know,” Fleury said after Game 6. “We’ll talk to management before I leave town, I guess. That’s it.”

On the Detroit Red Wings …

Ansar Khan of MLive: (mailbag) Jacob Trouba and Kevin Shattenkirk may be better options that Tyson Barrie for the Red Wings, but they would cost more to acquire – possibly more than the Red Wings have to offer, or willing to offer.

At $4.25 million for four more years, Jonathan Ericsson likely isn’t going anywhere.

The Flames or Hurricanes are looking for a starting goalie. No team would be willing to pay Jimmy Howard $5.3 million for three more years to be a backup.
