James Reimer and P.A. Parenteau

On James Reimer and the Toronto Maple Leafs …

  • Damien Cox: Once, now former, Maple Leafs goalie James Reimer asked for six years and $6 million a season, he was going to be traded.
  • Ray Petkau: (Reimer’s agent to Cox) “Double check those numbers. #BadSource”
  • Damien Cox: “Totally respect @RayPetkau and his right to state his side. And again, I stand by my report.”
  • Damien Cox: “Don’t think Reimer’s ask was ridiculous. Look at the market. Never get what you don’t ask for.”
  • Rob Longley: Don’t rule out James Reimer returning to the Maple Leafs.
  • Mark Masters: Reimer when asked if he could see himself coming back to Toronto.

“It’s definitely an option. It’s a special place & I have a lot of great memories here & a lot of good friends. Who knows what’s going to happen. It’s a long time in the future & we’ll cross that bridge when we do. As for now, I’m looking forward to putting on a Sharks uniform.”

Jonas Siegel: Leafs GM Lou Lamoriello seemed to imply that Reimer and other traded pending UFAs could be back with the Leafs via free agency.

  • Jonas Siegel: Lamoriello said that part of the thought process behind trading Reimer was to get to see what Garret Sparks and Antoine Bibeau can do in the last couple months.

On the Toronto Maple Leafs and P.A. Parenteau …

  • Sportsnet: P.A. Parenteau left last night’s game in the first period after having neck spasms. He doesn’t think it will keep him out for long. The Maple Leafs are expected to trade him by the deadline.

“I have no control,” he said. “You know as much as me.

“I’ll be resting (Sunday), trying to settle this down a bit, and be ready to go Monday.”

  • Arpon Basu: Parenteau on potentially re-signing with the Maple Leafs: “I’ve been treated so well by Lou and Mike that I would definitely consider coming back if I had the chance.”
