On Mike Hoffman …

Frank Seravalli of TSN: Looking at three teams that could be interested in Ottawa Senators winger Mike Hoffman.

Carolina Hurricanes – Hoffman has two years left on his deal. The Hurricanes need someone like Hoffman that can drive the play and he could help the Hurricanes end their eight-year playoff drought.

Edmonton Oilers – Connor McDavid needs a winger that shoots. Hoffman has averaged 222 shots per season and 27 goals a year for the past three seasons.

New Jersey Devils – Hoffman would look good beside Taylor Hall and Marcus Johansson. The Devils have plenty of salary cap space and are believed to have already shown interest in Hoffman.

On Mike Reilly …

Michael Russo of The Athletic: The Minnesota Wild have been platooning Gustav Olofsson and Mike Reilly on the third pairing. The Wild may soon decide which one they will ride with.

There has been the rumor that Reilly’s agent has been given permission to speak with other teams about a potential trade. Reilly’s agents, Pat Brisson and Chris LaCombe, along with GM Chuck Fletcher declined to comment. Back in December Fletcher denied that he was shopping Reilly.

Reilly said that he hasn’t asked for a trade.

“I haven’t really heard that from my agents.”

“But the reality of the situation, it’s going to be one of us,” Reilly said of he and Olofsson. “When I talk to Bruce, I know at the beginning of the year they didn’t want us sitting ‘X’ amount of games, six, seven games in a row. But now it’s at that point where I think (Olofsson) just played the last six and I played the eight in a row (in December). It sounds like they just want to go with one guy because it’s not fair to us, not fair to the team. Bruce wants to set his lineup. That’s the message I got.”
