NHL Rumors: Sharks, Avalanche, Canadiens and Senators
Could the Ottawa Senators revisit Matt Duchene this offseason
On the San Jose Sharks …

Kevin Kurz of CSN Bay Area: The Sharks priority this offseason is to sign Marc-Edouard Vlasic and Martin Jones to contract extensions.

Vlasic’s agent said yesterday that extension talks are “going well” and that they’d like to do a long-term deal. They plan to speak again soon.

Pierre LeBrun said on Wednesday that contract talks with Jones’ camp were “very positive” and that a deal could get done by early July.

On the Colorado Avalanche …

Adrian Dater and AJ Haefele of BSN Denver: Warren Rychel (Windsor – OHL GM and part own) has spoken with the Avalanche about a front office position. Rychel has said recently that he’s spoken with several NHL teams.

Rychel played for the Avalanche on two occasions and is a good friend of GM Joe Sakic.

On Matt Duchene, Montreal Canadiens and Ottawa Senators …

Chris Nichols of FanRag Sports: Elliotte Friedman on 630 CHED talking with host Bob Stauffer. Stauffer asked Friedman about Avs forward Matt Duchene, and if a Duchene for Alex Galchenyuk trade makes any sense.

“I do think Montreal will try and trade Galchenyuk,” answered Friedman. “I do. I think it’s likely he’s going to go.”

and quickly added

“But not 100 percent. But I’d say more likely than not they try to trade him.”

Friedman then wonders if the Ottawa Senators could take another look at Duchene.

“You know, I’ll tell you – the one team I wonder about is Ottawa,” said Friedman. “Like, they got the taste this year, right?

“They have to sign Kyle Turris in a year. They have to sign Karlsson in two years. Duchene has got two years left. I don’t know if they’re going to be able to fit it all in, but I could see if Ottawa wants to go for it – they sniffed around Duchene. I’m curious to see if they’re going to get back in it.”
